What is a Mental Health Care/Treatment Plan?
A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is a document created with a GP to identify the issues you are facing, outline support needs, establish treatment goals, and plan for the management of your condition.
Do I need one?
No, you do not need a Mental Health Care Plan to make an appointment. Without this, you will simply need to cover the full session fee out of pocket or claim with your Private Health Fund.
In what circumstances might this not be the right service for me?
As a private practice with specific areas of focus, we are mindful of our capacity and the importance of providing care that aligns closely with your needs. Our priority is to ensure you receive the most appropriate support to achieve the best possible outcomes for your mental health and wellbeing.
For this reason, we may recommend accessing alternative services if any of the following apply to you:
-
You are currently experiencing or have a history of a psychotic illness or anorexia
-
You have longstanding suicidal or homicidal thoughts or suicide attempts, and are not currently under the regular care of a psychiatrist
-
You are involved with Child Protection or Family and Community Services and do not have active case management support
-
You are currently using alcohol or other drugs at a level that significantly impacts your functioning and are not engaged with specialist Drug & Alcohol services
In these situations, more specialised care is required so we encourage you to seek treatment from providers equipped to offer the treatment and follow-up essential for your recovery.
How do I get one?
To get a Mental Health Care Plan, you will need to see a GP. It is a common courtesy to make an extended appointment for this purpose, as a standard appointment is typically not long enough. Note that any GP can create a Mental Health Care Plan with you – you do not need to have a regular doctor.
What is the Medicare Safety Net?
The Medicare Safety Net is a scheme designed to reduce your medical expenses. Out of pocket expenses count towards your Medicare Safety Net threshold. Once you have reached the threshold, you will start to receive a higher Medicare benefit. Ashley's services count towards your Medicare Safety Net.
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth refers to the delivery of healthcare services via telecommunication technologies. Simply, it refers to having your healthcare appointment conducted by phone or using video technology.
How does Telehealth work?
